PROSTHETIC LAB TECHNIQUES

Learn to create film standard prosthetic sculptures, moulds and appliances using the latest materials and techniques

The ability to produce your own prosthetics, either as part of a workshop team or as an individual freelance is an increasingly important skill for many make-up artists.

Prosthetic workshop or laboratory work involves the creation of ultra-realistic sculptures, the manufacture of high accuracy prosthetic moulds and the compounding and casting of flesh-like prosthetic materials into those moulds to produce the resultant appliances.

This dynamic area of make-up artistry poses exciting challenges for the prosthetic make-up artist, set against an ever-changing background of materials, procedures and techniques.

Woodbridge Productions Ltd. provides a number of specially designed Masterclass seminars covering all aspects of prosthetic laboratory techniques, taught by recognised industry experts using the latest materials and technology.

Many of the seminars are also of interest to special effects and animatronic technicians as the production of masks and animatronic skins are also covered in detail.

The programmes are devoted to giving you maximum hands-on experience of working with the techniques and materials shown and are backed by comprehensive course notes.

With only a small number of seminar places on each Masterclass, every delegate - whether expert or novice - is guaranteed to be provided with all the assistance they require to gain the maximum benefit possible from the seminar programme.

Full health and safety instruction is given during the seminar and safer working practises are employed throughout. All items of personal protective equipment (conforming to the appropriate EC safety standards) are supplied for your use during the seminar.

The prosthetic workshop is equipped with all the necessary laboratory equipment to produce a wide range of prosthetics. Equipment includes large and small foam latex mixers, laboratory ovens and microwaves, foam injection guns, and silicone de-airers.

Don’t forget to bring a stills camera to the Masterclass for creating step by step photos of your work - as well as some fantastic shots for your portfolio!

At the end of each exciting programme , you will receive a Certificate of Attendance detailing the skills demonstrated during the Masterclass.
